Espen Bakjord is a partner at Vaar with extensive expertise in IT, procurement, and privacy. These areas often intersect, presenting complex issues and challenges. Espen also has a significant interest in intellectual property rights, including copyright.
Espen has worked with privacy for several years, even before the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect. He has dealt with everything from internal control procedures, privacy statements, data processor agreements, and agreements on joint processing responsibilities to assessments of privacy impacts (DPIA). He advises both public and private clients on their challenges within the privacy area.
Espen also has thorough knowledge of the regulations on public procurement and assists both public and private clients throughout the entire procurement process. When assisting the public sector, he participates in the formulation of tender documents with accompanying documentation, conducts evaluations and awards, and handles any complaint processes. He also has expertise in several adjacent areas, especially archival, access, and administrative law. Espen's specialty is ICT procurements, and he has been and is involved in the development of new ICT standard agreements.
Espen often holds courses and lectures and likes to collaborate in teams, also interdisciplinary with the client's own resources. Espen is committed to providing advice with high professional integrity and actively works to continuously develop his competence.
